Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Play Worker to join our Wrap Around team based at Wellfield Infant School. This role would include working across our Breakfast and After School provision. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children and committed to creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. This role involves supervising children during play activities, supporting their developmental needs, and fostering positive social interactions. The Play Worker will play a vital part in promoting early childhood education and ensuring children’s wellbeing in our organisation.
Role Purpose
To help run high-quality Breakfast, After-School and Holiday Club sessions, providing
safe, fun and engaging play opportunities for children while supporting junior staff
and ensuring smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver a range of play activities suitable for mornings, after school
and holiday sessions.
Support children’s wellbeing, behaviour and individual needs, ensuring
inclusive and child-led play.
Carry out risk assessments, safeguarding duties and health & safety checks.
Manage daily routines including set-up/tidy-up, snack/meal times, and sign-
in/sign-out procedures.
Communicate professionally with parents/carers and maintain accurate
records (attendance, incidents, accidents).
Ensure compliance with club policies and assist with planning schedules,
rotas and resources.
Person Specification
Essential:
Level 3 Childcare qualification. (including early years)
Experience working with children in a play or wraparound care setting.
Confident in leading staff, managing behaviour, and running sessions safely.
Good communication, organisation, and safeguarding knowledge.
Desirable:
Safeguarding Training, First Aid, Food Hygiene, SEND experience, and
activity-leading skills.
Pay: £13.50 per hour
