Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fitter to join our workshop team supplying Sumitomo Excavators. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong mechanical aptitude to develop their career within a dynamic industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, align, and assemble mechanical components and machinery according to technical specifications and customer requirements
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Repair or replace faulty parts, ensuring minimal downtime of equipment.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics accurately.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs carried out.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the commissioning of new machinery and equipment as required.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Fitter or in a similar mechanical role within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and diagnostic techniques.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals with confidence.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programmes is desirable.
- Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Mechanical Engineering are advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail.
