About Us: Network Squad Ltd is a fast-growing IT services provider delivering reliable solutions in infrastructure, support, and security across the UK. As part of our expansion, we're looking for a hands-on Field IT Engineer to join our team - combining end-user desktop support with on-site infrastructure installation work.
Role Overview: As a Field IT Engineer, you'll split your time between providing 1st and 2nd line support for end users (remote and hands-on) and delivering installation projects - fiber and copper cabling, CCTV systems, and wireless deployments across commercial sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and terminate fiber optic and copper cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a) across commercial sites
- Pull and route cable via ceilings, under-floor risers, and across-floor ducting
- Install and commission CCTV systems (camera placement, NVR setup, cable runs) and wireless access points, including working at height
- Patch panel termination and infrastructure cabinet builds
- Conduct pre-installation site surveys and post-installation testing
- Maintain documentation of issues, solutions, installations, and as-built records
- Provide 1st and 2nd line support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
- Troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Office 365, and general software issues
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software; handle remote support via phone, email, and remote tools
- Manage Active Directory tasks (password resets, user management)
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand site requirements and resolve complex issues
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in IT support, desktop engineering, and/or structured cabling installation
- Experience with fiber/Copper termination, CCTV systems, and access point deployment
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Office 365, and basic networking
- Familiarity with Active Directory and basic server-side support (a plus)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills — able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Customer-focused mindset; able to work independently and in a team
- MSP (Managed Service Provider) experience desirable
- IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCP, or similar) preferred but not essential
