Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Vegetation and Arboriculture Operative to join our dynamic team. The role involves carrying out one-off vegetation and outdoor clearance works across a variety of commercial, residential, industrial and public-sector sites. You will be responsible for safely clearing overgrown areas, removing unwanted vegetation and leaving sites clean, tidy and ready for their intended use
Responsibilities
- Carrying out one-off vegetation and land clearance works.
- Cutting back and removing overgrown vegetation, brambles, scrub and unwanted growth.
- Hedge cutting, reduction and removal.
- Pruning and removal of shrubs and small trees.
- Carrying out tree works within the individual's level of competence and relevant qualifications.
- Using chainsaws, pole saws, brushcutters, hedge cutters and other vegetation management equipment where trained and authorised.
- Felling and dismantling trees where appropriately trained and qualified.
- Processing and clearing branches, logs and other arisings.
- Chipping and shredding vegetation using appropriate machinery.
- Strimming and clearing grass, weeds and dense vegetation.
- Clearing pathways, access routes, boundaries and difficult-to-access areas.
- Removing invasive or unwanted vegetation as required.
- Loading and unloading equipment, machinery and green waste.
- Keeping work areas clean, safe and free from unnecessary debris.
- Working around fences, buildings, utilities, roads and other site infrastructure with care.
- Identifying and reporting hazards, damaged equipment and potential site issues.
- Following RAMS, risk assessments, method statements and company procedures.
- Wearing and maintaining the required PPE at all times.
- Working safely around members of the public, clients, vehicles and other contractors.
- Completing works within agreed timescales and to the required standard.
- Maintaining company vehicles, machinery and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Carrying out other reasonable vegetation clearance duties as required
Skills
- Previous experience in vegetation management, forestry, landscaping, grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor role.
- Practical experience of hedge cutting, vegetation clearance and outdoor land clearance.
- Experience using professional grounds or vegetation management machinery.
- Good understanding of safe working practices when using powered equipment.
- The ability to work safely in challenging outdoor environments.
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves manual handling, lifting and strenuous outdoor work.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of completed work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good timekeeping and reliability.
- A positive, practical and professional attitude.
- Good communication skills.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
Qualifications
- NPTC/City & Guilds chainsaw qualifications.
- CS30/CS31 or equivalent chainsaw certification.
- Woodchipper experience and relevant certification.
- MEWP experience and certification.
- Brushcutter/strimmer qualifications.
- Experience in tree climbing and aerial tree work.
- Emergency First Aid + Forestry.
- Lantra or other recognised vegetation management qualifications.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience towing trailers.
- Experience working alongside highways, utilities or construction projects.
Pay: £31,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
