We are seeking an exceptional Clinical Senior Lecturer/Lecturer and Honorary Consultant to join the Restorative Team, Division of Dentistry, Faculty of Health at the University of Dundee.
In this role you will provide leadership in teaching and scholarship in Restorative Dentistry (or Single-Specialty in Prosthodontics), specifically in prosthodontics. The post-holder will lead the undergraduate teaching and assessment in removable prosthodontics. The post-holder will be expected to provide teaching in Restorative Dentistry (or Single-Specialty Prosthodontics) at all levels, including undergraduate, post-graduate and trainees, including clinical/chairside supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students (as applicable). An honorary consultant position with NHS Tayside will be sought. The successful candidate would also be expected to support research activity within the School.

About the Role
As Clinical Senior Lecturer/Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, you will play an important role in supporting the Restorative Team in the clinical education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of fixed and removable prosthodontics, including supporting research activity. Primarily this role will provide leadership in undergraduate removable prosthodontics, although you may also be involved in the teaching and assessment of other aspects of clinical dentistry. The successful candidate will be expected to actively engage in wider activities across the school and faculty, as appropriate.
You will work closely with both university and NHS staff at all levels and contribute to the continued success of the school's national and international rankings through the delivery of high quality educational programmes, supporting research activity and NHS service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Provide leadership for the development and delivery of teaching (didactic and clinical) and assessment of undergraduate removable prosthodontics to align with the requirements of the GDC Safe Practitioner Framework.
- Provide support for undergraduate teaching and assessment of other aspects of restorative dentistry.
- Provide support and supervision of postgraduate students in restorative dentistry.
- Undertake other leadership roles within the School to support the teaching of restorative dentistry, as appropriate.
- Undertake clinical duties as Honorary Consultant within Restorative Dentistry (or sub-specialty) in conjunction with NHS Tayside, including training of training grade and SAS grade staff.
Who We're Looking For:
Essential
- BDS qualification or equivalent.
- Full registration with the GDC at the time of commencing the post.
- Entry on or eligible to enter within 6 months, to the GDC specialist list in restorative dentistry or prosthodontics.
- Evidence of successful completion of a SAC-approved StR training programme in restorative dentistry or prosthodontics.
- Experience of teaching and assessment in restorative dentistry (or prosthodontics) at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant specialty area (essential for Senior Lecturer*, desirable for Lecturer)
- Evidence of high-quality research in restorative dentistry and/or restorative sub-specialties.
- Consideration will be given regarding lecturer/senior lecturer grading based on the University of Dundee promotion criteria.
