Overview
We are seeking a friendly and proactive Farm Shop Assistant/ Barista to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with merchandising, preparing a variety of beverages, serving ice cream, making sandwiches/ hot food and ensuring the smooth operation of our farm shop. The ideal candidate will be organised, have strong communication skills, and be capable of engaging with a diverse customer base. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in retail and customer service within a rural setting.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries in a professional manner
- Support merchandising efforts by arranging products attractively and restocking shelves as needed
- Handle sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, including upselling products where appropriate
- Provide information about products, including farm produce and seasonal items
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the shop area to ensure a welcoming environment
- Manage stock levels and assist with inventory checks
- Assist in organising promotional displays and seasonal decorations
- Support other team members during busy periods to ensure efficient shop operations
- Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea and speciality drinks, ensuring standards are met.
- Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches or snacks as required. (Food hygiene Level 2&3 training and certificates will be provided)
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to uphold food safety standards at all times.
Experience
- Previous barista or customer service experience is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided
- Hospitality experience is essential (Minimum 2 years required - FOH)
- Knowledge of food safety practices is advantageous.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Strong communication skills to engage confidently with customers and team members
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment is beneficial.
- Strong time management skills are essential to prioritise tasks effectively during busy shifts. Pay: Minimum wage
Under 18 - £8.00
18 to 20 - £10.85
21 and over - £12.71
Availability: Monday - Sunday
