Happy Faces Out of School Care was established in 1989. We provide care for school age children aged 4-10 years old, from 3.00-6.00, Monday - Friday, term time only. After serving a light meal we facilitate the children at play inside and outside.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The playworker will work as part of the staff team to ensure the smooth running of the Club. They will be responsible for contributing to a programme of activities for children in a positive, safe and caring environment. Candidates will have experience with working with children and/or hold a level 2 or above child care certificate.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
· Setting up the rooms
· Helping with preparing and serving light meals
. Collecting children from the school and escorting into our building
· Ensuring the register is correct. Chasing up absences.
· Assisting with washing-up, cleaning and tidying kitchen and activity areas
. Tidying up children's activity areas
. Helping with supervising children at various activities inside and outside
· Liaising with parents
· Recording accidents/incidents
· Helping to maintain equipment, keeping it safe and tidy
· Other duties as directed by the Manager
The Playworker will be expected to:
· Attend and contribute to staff meetings
· Attend Safeguarding and obligatory training
· Hold or work towards a First Aid Qualification and Food Hygiene Certificate
· Contributing to activity plans
· Attend 1:1 support and appraisal meetings
· Attend coaching and training
The Playworker will report to the Deputy or Manager
Job Purpose and Scope:
To be a part of the staff team providing a programme of activities for children during Afterschool Club
Main Responsibilities:
To provide a safe and stimulating environment for the children through a range of appropriate activities.
To develop and maintain good working relationships with all children in the play setting.
To assist with programme planning and preparation of the centre.
To ensure that appropriate daily risk assessments are carried out, and that any hazards identified are recorded and reported to the Manager.
To ensure that behaviour management strategies are consistent with those of the organisation.
To relate effectively with parents and carers.
To help promote effective teamwork in conjunction with other staff and volunteers.
To undertake relevant training that will assist in personal development.
(Which is to include food handling, paediatric first aid, child protection and safeguarding and wellbeing.)
To adhere to the service/organisational policies on behaviour and equal opportunities.
To be aware of health and safety procedures at all times.
To undertake any other duties as maybe required to aid the work, team and centre.
