Intech Centre is an established adult education and training provider delivering vocational, digital and employability programmes. Our current provision includes Digital Marketing, Social Media, Web Design and Artificial Intelligence courses for adults through both funded and private programmes.
We are looking for a motivated and practical Careers & Employment Specialist to help employers access talented learners and support our learners into sustainable employment, progression, freelance work and self-employment.
This is a varied role combining employer engagement, careers support, employability delivery and programme support. You will work closely with employers, learners, tutors and the wider Intech Centre team from enrolment through to at least six months after programme completion.
The role
You will develop relationships with employers and industry professionals, identify employment opportunities and create meaningful routes into work for learners completing our digital and creative programmes.
You will also deliver regular employability workshops and provide one-to-one support to help learners prepare for employment. This will include CV development, portfolio building, LinkedIn profiles, job applications, interview preparation, professional communication and workplace behaviour.
The successful candidate will also support the delivery and administration of our training programmes, helping learners remain engaged, complete their learning and participate in employment-related activities.
Key responsibilities
Employer engagement
- Identify, contact and build relationships with employers, SMEs, recruitment agencies and industry professionals.
- Onboard employers to Intech Centre’s programmes and explain how they can engage with our learners.
- Develop recruitment and progression routes for learners in digital marketing, social media, web design, content, AI and related roles.
- Source vacancies, work experience opportunities, employer introductions, interviews and guaranteed interview opportunities where available.
- Arrange employer talks, industry events, networking opportunities and recruitment activities.
- Develop employer-led briefs and practical projects based on real business needs.
- Arrange opportunities for learners to work on realistic employer projects so they can demonstrate their skills before applying for employment.
- Maintain accurate records of employer contacts, vacancies, learner referrals, interviews and outcomes.
- Maintain relationships with employers after a learner starts work and provide appropriate in-work support to help employment remain sustainable.
Learner employability and careers support
- Deliver regular employability workshops for learners.
- Help learners prepare professional CVs, covering letters, portfolios and LinkedIn profiles.
- Support learners to search and apply for suitable jobs, internships, freelance projects and self-employment opportunities.
- Provide interview preparation, mock interviews and feedback.
- Help learners understand professional communication, workplace ethics, punctuality, reliability and appropriate workplace behaviour.
- Support learners to understand employer expectations and the skills required for digital and creative roles.
- Provide individual careers guidance and action planning from enrolment through to six months after completion.
- Track learners’ employment-related activity, applications, interviews, job offers and progression.
- Support learners who require additional encouragement, confidence-building or practical guidance.
- Help learners progress into suitable employment, better work, freelance activity, further learning or sustainable self-employment.
Programme and delivery support
- Support learner enrolment, induction and initial employment planning.
- Work with tutors to ensure employability is embedded throughout the programme.
- Track learner attendance, engagement, progress and participation in employability activities.
- Help arrange employer engagement activities, project work and guest sessions.
- Support learners to create portfolios and present their work professionally.
- Assist with the delivery of digital and employability-related training activities where appropriate.
- Contribute to lesson planning, workshops, learner resources and practical activities.
- Maintain accurate, timely and audit-ready learner and employer records.
- Support the team to meet the requirements of funded programmes and maintain high-quality learner outcomes.
- Carry out other reasonable duties connected with the successful delivery of Intech Centre’s programmes.
Essential experience and skills
- Experience in employer engagement, recruitment, employability, careers advice, business development or a related field.
- Experience supporting adults into employment, progression, freelance work or self-employment.
- Experience delivering workshops or one-to-one support.
- Strong understanding of CVs, portfolios, job applications, interviews and LinkedIn.
- Confidence contacting employers and developing professional relationships.
- Good knowledge of workplace expectations, professional conduct and recruitment processes.
- Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow agreed procedures.
- Good digital skills and an understanding of digital marketing, social media, web design or artificial intelligence.
- Commitment to equality, safeguarding, inclusion and learner wellbeing.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check, if required.
Desirable experience
- Experience working in adult education, further education, skills bootcamps or employability programmes.
- Experience working with funded training provision and evidence requirements.
- Knowledge of digital marketing, SEO, PPC, social media, content creation, web design, WordPress or AI tools.
- Experience supporting employer-led projects or work experience.
- Experience working with SMEs and start-up businesses.
- A careers, employability, teaching, coaching or recruitment qualification.
