Service Manager – Homelessness Service
Salary: £34,505 per annum
Hours: 37.5hrs per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Shepton Mallet
Role Summary:
An established charity is looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead homelessness and supported housing services in Shepton Mallet. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader to oversee high-quality, person-centred services that support people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion to achieve greater independence and stability.
You'll provide operational leadership to a dedicated team, ensuring services are delivered to a high standard while meeting contractual requirements, safeguarding responsibilities, and organisational objectives. Working closely with commissioners and partner agencies, you'll play a key role in developing services and improving outcomes for vulnerable people within the local community.
Day-to-Day Duties:
- Lead, supervise and support a team, providing regular supervision, coaching and performance management.
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of homelessness and supported housing services, ensuring high standards of support.
- Monitor service performance against KPIs, contractual requirements and quality standards.
- Promote a person-centred, trauma-informed approach that empowers individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with commissioners, local authorities and external agencies.
- Manage service budgets, operational compliance and reporting requirements.
- Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are upheld and risk is effectively managed.
- Identify opportunities for service development and continuous improvement.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to provide management support when required.
About You:
- Previous management experience within homelessness, housing, supported housing, social care or a similar support service.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and support staff.
- Experience managing operational performance, budgets and contractual targets.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding, risk management and trauma-informed practice.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for business travel.
- Flexible to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
