About the Role
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable, and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join our warm and welcoming team at Soham Lodge Care Centre. You’ll play an important part in ensuring our residents enjoy nutritious, well-presented meals in a safe, clean, and person‑centred environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the preparation of meals to a high standard, following all food safety and hygiene guidelines
- Helping deliver meals to residents at the correct temperature, texture and with excellent presentation
- Following daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal kitchen routines, including cleaning schedules, stock rotation, and fridge/freezer checks
- Receiving and storing deliveries safely and efficiently
- Keeping accurate stock records and reporting shortages
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen at all times
- Using kitchen equipment safely and reporting any defects promptly
- Supporting compliance with COSHH, infection control, and all regulatory standards
- Working closely with the Kitchen Manager and wider care team to ensure residents’ needs are met
What We’re Looking For
- Someone organised, reliable, and attentive to detail
- A valid Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to update)
- Good communication skills and a positive, patient attitude
- A genuine interest in supporting all our residents as individuals
- Ability to work within the physical demands of a busy kitchen
- Commitment to confidentiality, safety, and residents’ rights
