Job Title: Yard Operative (fork lift preferred)
Reporting to: Site Supervisor
Location: Modular Manufacturing Facility – Lisburn
Hours of work: 7.00am – 4.15pm
Friday: 7.00am – 1.15pm
Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour
- Holiday Pay
- Overtime rate 1: £21.00 per hour
- Overtime rate 2: £28.00 per hour
Job Summary
The Yard Operative is responsible for the efficient management of the site’s external yard area.
In a busy modular manufacturing facility, this role is the backbone of the supply chain, ensuring that raw materials, are stored, tracked, and moved safely and effectively to support continuous production.
Cleaning and ensuring all areas are up to speed with H&S stringent requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Material Handling:
Manual Handling, lifting materials, (full manual handling certification shall be made available).
Inventory Management:
Maintain an organized yard layout. Ensure all stock is stored in designated zones, clearly labelled, and easily accessible for the production team.
Traffic Management:
Direct delivery drivers and internal transport vehicles to ensure site safety and prevent bottlenecks during peak production hours.
Site Safety & Compliance:
Maintain a clean, hazard-free yard. Conduct daily safety inspections of equipment and report any maintenance issues immediately. Ensure all operations comply with site health and safety protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, construction, or logistics environment.
Safety Mindset:
A proactive approach to health and safety; ability to identify risks in a high-traffic area.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform manual tasks as required.
Communication:
Strong verbal communication skills to coordinate with drivers, site management, and production teams.
Organizational Skills:
Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment where production schedules are tight.
Working Environment:
- This is an outdoors-based role within a busy industrial site.
- High-visibility PPE, hard hat, ear protectors must be worn at all times
- The role requires high levels of alertness due to the movement of heavy modules and frequent vehicle traffic.
