About the Role
At The Chestnuts, part of the Steps Together family, we are passionate about supporting individuals affected by addiction, poor mental health, and wellbeing challenges. We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and motivated Support Workers to join our dedicated team and help make a positive difference in the lives of our clients.
Working alongside our experienced clinical, therapy, and support teams, you will provide practical and emotional support to clients throughout their recovery journey. You will help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment while encouraging clients to engage with treatment programmes, daily activities, and recovery-focused goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day practical and emotional support to clients within a residential recovery setting.
- Support clients to engage with therapeutic programmes, activities, and recovery plans.
- Build positive and professional relationships that promote wellbeing and recovery.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and personal responsibility.
- Support the smooth running of the service and maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
- Accurately record client interactions and complete relevant documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across clinical, therapy, and support teams.
- Promote the values of recovery, respect, inclusion, and person-centred care.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience working within a care, support, health, social care, or residential setting, or a willingness to learn and develop within the role.
- A kind, caring, and professional approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and a willingness to support colleagues and the wider service when required.
- A genuine desire to help people make positive changes in their lives.
Desirable Experience
Applications will be particularly welcomed from candidates who:
- Have lived experience of addiction and recovery, either personally or through supporting a family member or loved one.
- Have experience within addiction services, mental health services, supported housing, or residential care settings.
- Are looking to progress from voluntary, agency, or casual support work into a permanent position.
- Have a passion for supporting people to achieve lasting recovery and improved wellbeing.
