Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Yard Operative to join our team at our Florida Close Site. This multitask role is vital in supporting our waste management operations; operating equipment to cut materials, predominately metal, in a busy recycling facility whilst maintaining a safe work environment.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Gas cutting metals and large metal objects down to size to ensure safe re-processing and recycling
- Ensure that any non-compliant wastes are identified, recorded, and processed in line with company policy and that there is no contamination of material before it is loaded
- Assist in the stock control of material to ensure that there is no build up, reporting to the Site Manager and Supervisor
- Be efficient in the reporting of any accidents/incidents or near misses
- Ensure that the level of housekeeping is maintained to the highest standard
- Assisting with other duties on site including picking waste materials and segregation into individual streams
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and yard facilities
- Follow company policies to promote a safe working environment
- Promote company values in all actions
Key Skills
- Experience with the use of oxy-propane cutting equipment is essential
- Compliance with health and safety regulations
- Previous experience in a similar environment is desirable
- Forklift licence is preferable
- Strong teamwork skills are essential
- Ability to handle physical tasks and operate hand tools safely
- Reliable with a positive attitude toward work
- Ferrous and non-ferrous knowledge would be advantageous
