This role involves providing high-quality culinary services for weddings and events in Cornwall. The successful candidate works on a temporary basis, delivering exceptional food preparation and cooking within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role requires adaptability to varied menus and event requirements, maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with the menus provided for weddings and events

Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation

Maintain food hygiene and safety standards in compliance with relevant legislation and company policies

Assist with the setup and clearing of the kitchen and service areas before, during and after events

Work efficiently under pressure to meet event schedules and guest expectations

Adapt to different dietary requirements and menu changes as required

Collaborate with the catering and events team to ensure smooth service delivery

Report any issues with equipment, stock levels or kitchen conditions promptly
- Relevant food hygiene certification or equivalent

Basic culinary training or recognised qualifications in food preparation and cooking
- Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent level of education

Formal culinary education or apprenticeship is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working as a chef or cook within a hospitality environment

Experience in events catering or weddings is advantageous

Demonstrable ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practises

Understanding of food safety standards and legislation

Ability to follow recipes and menus accurately

Good time management and organisational skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Effective communication skills to liaise with team members and supervisors

Flexibility and adaptability to changing work demands and schedules
- Additional food hygiene certifications at higher levels

Experience in fine dining or high-end event catering

Knowledge of dietary requirements including allergen awareness and special diets
- Temporary, part-time working hours with flexibility to cover weekends, evenings and bank holidays as required

Work takes place in commercial kitchens and event venues around Cornwall

Physically demanding role requiring standing for long periods and manual handling of equipment and supplies
