About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and person-centred Care Worker / Home Support Assistant to provide high-quality care and support to individuals in their own homes or residential care settings.
The successful candidate will support service users with their personal care, daily routines, mobility, and general wellbeing, while promoting their independence, dignity, privacy, and quality of life. You will work closely with colleagues, families, and other professionals to ensure individuals receive safe, respectful, and consistent care.
Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care & Daily Living Support
- Provide respectful assistance with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Support service users with their daily routines, including getting up, preparing for bed, and maintaining personal comfort.
- Assist with meal preparation, serving meals, and feeding where required, taking account of individual dietary requirements.
- Support individuals with everyday activities such as shopping, correspondence, and basic household tasks.
- Carry out light domestic duties, including cleaning and laundry, to help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
Health, Medication & Complex Care Support
- Monitor and report any changes in a service user’s physical, emotional, or general wellbeing.
- Provide medication support in accordance with individual care plans, organisational policies, and relevant training.
- Assist with safe moving and handling procedures using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and agreed support arrangements to ensure safe and consistent care.
- Promote independence while ensuring appropriate support is provided according to each individual’s needs.
Teamwork, Safeguarding & Compliance
- Work effectively as part of a wider care team and communicate professionally with colleagues, families, and relevant healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date care documentation and records.
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, infection control, and other organisational policies and procedures.
- Report concerns, incidents, accidents, or changes in service users’ needs promptly through the appropriate channels.
- Attend required training and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and improve standards of care.
Qualifications
Willingness to work towards a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
Medication Support
Basic understanding of medication support or willingness to complete relevant training.
Previous experience providing medication support.
Experience
Previous care experience is advantageous, with a willingness to support individuals with a range of care needs.
Experience in a home care, residential, nursing, or community care environment.
Driving
UK driving licence where required for community-based roles.
Access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
Personal Skills
Compassionate, reliable, respectful, patient, and able to communicate effectively.
Experience working with individuals with complex or additional support needs.

Pay: £12.71-£13.75 per hour
