Essex Police and Kent Police IT Services are looking for a keen and enthusiastic Senior Engineer to join our End User Development team.
The team is leading on several large platforms which support the underlying IT infrastructure of Essex Police and Kent Police. These include the core client operating system, Azure Platform, Active Directory / Entra ID and Software Centre Configuration Manager. We have a variety of specific skills sets that we are seeking from applicants – to bolster the skills in the team & to meet the demands of the programme-of-work. This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to work as part of a team to deliver on a wide range of EUC transitional activities using the appropriate assurance processes.
The post holder must evidence in their application:
- Experience of Exchange administration
- Experience of Active Directory and Entra ID administration
- The ability to work within a fast paced, and pressurised environment as well as the ability to work remotely with tight timescales, prioritise your workloads and use own initiative.
- Demonstrates strong troubleshooting expertise and sound decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
In addition, it would be desirable if you could evidence your experience in any of our specific technology areas:
- Experience of Mobile Device Management administration – particularly Microsoft Intune.
- Experience of Identity & Access Management Principles and Practices.
- Experience of Cyber Security principles and practices, including the administration and use of Microsoft Defender and SIEM tools.
- Experience of Application Packaging Principles and Practices.
There will be opportunities for development and training.
Part of the EUC Development role is packaging applications for use across the organisation - as it currently stands, we develop and support applications that are used widely across the organisation that are either used infrequently or act as interdependencies for other applications. In addition to this, the team develop and support the core Azure infrastructure platform, underpinning the cloud operations and current intense focus upon development and migration to cloud platforms. The successful candidate will be very much involved in the team’s delivery and maintenance of client software, the development and support of our Azure platform; as well as other project work.
EUC Development continues to work on delivering solutions that enable the organisation to provide effective and efficient working practices that act as an enabler for police officers and police staff alike. The most important underlying principles of delivering on this ambition is to ensure that the platform is secure and functional. With an ever-growing technology stack, cyber security plays an essential role in the delivery of every technical solution. As such, the team has a requirement to operate a mandatory on-call rota, for which an allowance is paid, and successful applicants will join after a period of integration.
