Deputy Manager
Location: Midlands based homes in Hammerwich, Penkridge and Norton Canes
Salary: £16 ph , plus £50per sleep-in (approx. 8 per month) + £5 per hour exra for any overtime
Contract: Full time — 2 x 24 hour shifts with sleep-in, plus 1 office day

Coven Care Homes provides residential care for children and young people aged 7 to 18 with emotional, behavioural, and mild learning needs.
We run small homes where children feel safe, known, and supported. Relationships come first, and consistency matters. Our aim is to help children build confidence, stability, and skills for adulthood.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you are second in charge of the home. You will work directly alongside the Registered Manager, leading shifts on the floor, supporting the staff team, and holding responsibility for the home in the manager's absence.
This role suits an experienced senior residential worker who wants real leadership responsibility in a small home, with a clear route towards registered management.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and team
- Lead shifts and set the standard on the floor
- Deliver supervisions and support staff development
- Manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager
- Contribute to rotas and staffing decisions
Care and safeguarding
- Follow and uphold safeguarding procedures and risk management plans
- Support children's emotional and practical needs day to day
- Promote children's rights, equality, and inclusion
- Maintain a calm and therapeutic environment
Quality and compliance
- Support audits, quality checks, and Regulation 44 visits
- Contribute to care planning, recording, and reviews
- Help ensure the home meets the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
Partnership working
- Build respectful relationships with families and professionals
- Support communication with local authorities and external agencies
What We Are Looking For
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or equivalent
- At least 2 years in children's residential care, including senior or shift leading experience
- Willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma if not already held
- Strong values around care, consistency, and accountability
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the United Kingdom (sponsorship is not available)
