We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests and performing a variety of mechanical repairs and maintenance on vehicles. Duties
- Carry out MOT testing in accordance with legal requirements and company standards
- Diagnose vehicle faults and perform necessary repairs or maintenance
- Conduct routine servicing, including oil changes, brake inspections, and tyre replacements
- Use hand tools and power tools to dismantle, repair, and reassemble vehicle components
- Perform heavy lifting of vehicle parts or equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of all work carried out and parts used
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards
- Assist with vehicle inspections and prepare vehicles for testing or sale as required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic or MOT tester with relevant qualifications
- Strong mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools effectively
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid MOT tester certification is preferred but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate
- A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate vehicle movement around the premises
