As a Freelance Supervisor with Arch, you’ll take the lead on smaller-scale events (typically under 150 guests), ensuring smooth execution from set-up to pack-down. In these cases, you will take on full on-site responsibility — briefing the team, managing service flow, and liaising with the client as needed. You’ll supervise a variety of event types — from weddings and seated dinners to canapé receptions and drinks service — so you should be confident leading across all of these formats. For larger events, you may work under a Freelance Event Manager to support delivery across front-of-house teams.
This role bridges the gap between FoH team members and Event Managers — ideal for those with strong service experience who are confident in taking ownership of more intimate or logistically simpler events.
Key Responsibilities
When acting as the on-site lead for smaller events:
- Deliver pre-event briefings to the FOH team using the event brief from Arch HQ.
- Oversee event set-up, service, and pack-down, ensuring all elements are executed to Arch’s standards.
- Monitor team attendance (clock-in/out times) and report back to Arch HQ.
- Manage staff breaks, service flow, and rotation of roles throughout the shift.
- Liaise directly with the client or venue contact, updating them on timing, flow, or changes as needed.
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams on service timings and menu specifics.
- Monitor equipment inventory (food, drinks, ice, equipment) on arrival and ensure correct return post-event.
- Complete a post-event feedback form covering team performance, event flow, and any key notes for Arch HQ.
On larger events where an Event Manager is present:
- Act as a deputy, leading a section (e.g. drinks station, table service) and supporting wider service delivery.
- Relay briefings and help manage team logistics.
- Step in to resolve issues calmly and efficiently, keeping communication clear.
Required Skills & Experience
- At least 1 year of floor experience in a FoH Supervisory role at premium events.
- Confident leading small teams and taking initiative.
- Excellent communication skills and calm under pressure.
- Comfortable liaising with clients and venue staff directly.
- Solid understanding of event service standards (bar, plated, canapé, buffet, etc.).
- Level 3 Food Hygiene Award (or willingness to obtain).
- Reliable, professional, and solutions-focused.
