Bar Manager – The Tavern Social

The Tavern Social is an exciting new all-day restaurant, bar and live-sports venue opening on Water Street in Liverpool city centre. We are looking for an experienced and confident Bar Manager to lead our bar operation and help build a successful team.
The ideal candidate will have strong cocktail knowledge, excellent leadership skills and proven experience managing a busy bar.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day bar operation
- Recruit, train, motivate and manage the bar team
- Deliver professional cocktail and drinks training
- Create and maintain high standards of service
- Manage staff rotas and control labour costs
- Complete stocktakes, place orders and manage supplier relationships
- Monitor stock levels, wastage, margins and gross profit
- Maintain excellent licensing, health and safety, and food hygiene standards
- Ensure the bar is fully prepared for busy services, live sports and private events
- Handle customer concerns professionally
- Work closely with the General Manager and management team
- Help develop the cocktail menu and drinks packages
- Support the successful opening and ongoing development of the venue
What we are looking for
- Previous experience as a Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager or senior bar supervisor
- Strong cocktail-making knowledge and practical experience
- Proven experience managing, training and developing staff
- Good understanding of stock control, ordering, margins and cost management
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills
- Confidence working in a high-volume venue
- Strong organisation and problem-solving skills
- A hands-on leadership style
- Personal Licence preferred but not essential
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
