About Us
Taoywen is a London-based makeup, styling and photography studio specialising in Chinese traditional and contemporary styling, portrait photography, event makeup and creative visual services.
We are looking for a responsible, organised and versatile Studio Manager & Makeup Artist to join our team and take an active role in the day-to-day operation of the studio.
This is a hands-on position combining studio management, client service, booking coordination and makeup & hairstyling. The successful candidate should be confident working independently and ensuring the studio operates smoothly when the owner is not on site.
Key Responsibilities
Studio Operations & Client Service
- Manage daily bookings, appointments and client enquiries
- Communicate with clients before and after their appointments
- Confirm booking details, packages, timings and special requirements
- Welcome and assist clients during their visit
- Process payments and maintain accurate daily transaction records
- Coordinate schedules between clients, makeup artists and photographers
- Handle booking changes, cancellations and general customer service enquiries
- Resolve routine issues independently and ensure a smooth client experience
Makeup & Hairstyling
- Provide professional makeup and hairstyling services when required
- Be confident in traditional Chinese / Hanfu makeup and hairstyling
- Assist clients with selecting suitable hairstyles, accessories and styling
- Maintain and organise makeup tools, hair accessories, wigs and styling equipment
- Support other makeup artists during busy periods
Costume & Rental Management
- Manage the studio's Hanfu, traditional Chinese clothing and photography wardrobe
- Organise costume rentals, returns and inventory records
- Check garments and accessories for damage, stains or missing items
- Arrange cleaning, steaming and preparation of garments
- Maintain an organised and presentable wardrobe and styling area
- Conduct regular inventory checks
Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- Has professional makeup and hairstyling experience
- Is able to independently complete Hanfu / traditional Chinese makeup and hairstyling
- Has strong organisational and time-management skills
- Is responsible, reliable and comfortable working independently
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills
- Is confident handling bookings, payments and day-to-day studio administration
- Is detail-oriented and able to manage several appointments and tasks simultaneously
- Is comfortable communicating with both Chinese-speaking and English-speaking clients
- Has a proactive approach to solving day-to-day problems
- Is willing to take responsibility for the studio's daily operation when required
Previous experience in a photography studio, beauty studio, makeup studio, bridal studio, fashion studio or customer-facing management role would be an advantage.
