This role is ideal for candidates with experience in mechanical assembly, engineering assembly, mechanical fitting, hand tool work, power tool use, technical drawings and manufacturing production.
Mechanical Assembly Technician Role
As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be working within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment, assembling mechanical components, sub-assemblies and finished products to a high standard.
You will be required to read and follow engineering drawings, technical diagrams, build instructions and work instructions, using a range of hand tools, power tools and mechanical assembly equipment.
This position may also suit candidates who have worked as a Mechanical Assembler, Assembly Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Production Assembler, Manufacturing Technician, Engineering Operative or Production Operative.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and finished products
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical diagrams and build instructions
- Using hand tools, power tools and mechanical assembly equipment safely and accurately
- Working from production schedules, job sheets and standard operating procedures
- Carrying out quality checks, visual inspections and basic testing on completed assemblies
- Checking components for accuracy, defects and correct fitting
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, accuracy and attention to detail
- Following health and safety procedures within a manufacturing environment
- Keeping the work area clean, organised and safe
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly, engineering assembly, manufacturing or production
- Confident using hand tools, power tools, drills, screwdrivers, spanners and basic workshop equipment
- Ability to read engineering drawings, technical diagrams, build sheets or assembly instructions
- Good mechanical understanding and practical hands-on ability
- Experience assembling mechanical components, metal parts, fabricated parts or manufactured products
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work
- Ability to follow work instructions, quality procedures and health and safety guidelines
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a production or engineering team
- Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, assembly, fabrication or production environment would be highly beneficial
- NVQ, City & Guilds or similar qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Production would be desirable, but not essential
