The Farmers Arms, West Hatch is preparing to reopen under new ownership this September, and we’re looking for an exceptional Head Chef to lead our kitchen from day one.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of a much-loved village pub. Working alongside the owners, you’ll have the freedom to create a menu that celebrates fresh, seasonal ingredients while establishing The Farmers Arms as a destination for outstanding food, warm hospitality and a true community atmosphere.
Our vision includes a busy restaurant, welcoming bar, coffee shop, bakery offerings, Sunday roasts, bar snacks and private functions, making this an exciting and varied role for an ambitious chef.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality food production.
- Develop innovative menus that align with the restaurant’s concept and customer preferences.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet established standards of excellence.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs effectively.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards within the kitchen.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff to foster a motivated and skilled team.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor kitchen equipment maintenance and organise repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Uphold hospitality standards by ensuring a welcoming environment for both staff and guests.
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant setting.
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing a diverse team.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively lead staff and collaborate with other departments.
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant operations is highly desirable.
- A passion for culinary arts coupled with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
