We're looking for someone who can make genuinely great cocktails while also bringing organisation, consistency and leadership to the bar.
This is a permanent, hands-on role. You'll spend plenty of time behind the bar during service, but you'll also have responsibility for helping keep the drinks, stock and bar team running properly behind the scenes.
What you'll be doing
- Working regular bar shifts as a senior member of the team
- Making cocktails quickly, consistently and to a high standard
- Helping maintain and develop our cocktail menu
- Creating and maintaining clear cocktail recipes and serve standards
- Helping develop seasonal drinks and Potion Making cocktails
- Training and supporting other members of the bar team
- Managing stock levels, stocktakes and bar organisation
- Helping with ordering and making sure the bar is properly prepared for service
- Monitoring wastage and stock discrepancies
- Maintaining strong cleaning, opening and closing standards
- Helping coordinate the bar rota and day-to-day staffing
- Supporting licensing and Challenge 25 procedures
- Acting as Duty Manager when required
- Taking responsibility for the bar during shifts and resolving everyday operational problems
Who we're looking for
We're looking for somebody who already knows their way around a good cocktail bar.
You should have:
- Strong practical cocktail-making skills
- Good knowledge of spirits and classic cocktails
- The ability to make drinks quickly and consistently during busy service
- Experience working in a busy bar
- Good organisation and attention to detail
- The confidence to train and support other bartenders
- The ability to take responsibility and make sensible decisions during a shift
- A genuine interest in drinks and cocktail development
Experience with stocktaking, ordering or supervising a bar would be particularly useful.
Previous leadership experience is essential.
A Personal Licence would be an advantage but isn't essential.
Pay & hours
£13.25 per hour + an equal share of tronc.
Our tronc has averaged approximately £2 per hour over the last 12 months, although this is variable and not guaranteed.
Approximately 40 hours per week
About Dark Arts
Dark Arts isn't a conventional cocktail bar.
Our drinks sit alongside Potion Making experiences, theatrical serves, puzzles and immersive entertainment, so we're interested in bartenders who understand that a drink can be both a genuinely good cocktail and part of the experience.
There's room to be creative here, but we're equally interested in consistency, organisation and someone who takes pride in running a good bar.
If you're an experienced bartender looking for more responsibility, more creative involvement and the chance to help shape an unusual independent venue, we'd love to hear from you. Cover letters are appreciated so we can get a sense of who you are.
Pay: £13.25-£15.25 per hour

- Supervising: 2 years (preferred)
