As our client base continues to grow, we are looking for a meticulous and enthusiastic Part-Time Bookkeeper & Accounts Assistant to join our team.
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated individual to support our growing practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for multiple clients, including bookkeeping, payroll and VAT compliance. The role will also involve assisting with the preparation of year-end limited company accounts, with full training provided where required. However previous experience will be advantagous.
This position is initially 8 hours per week, however the business is experiencing significant growth and we anticipate the role increasing to 2–3 days per week over time. This is an excellent opportunity to become a key member of the team and grow alongside the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping – Maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients.
- Invoicing – Prepare and issue sales invoices promptly.
- Purchase Ledger – Process supplier invoices and maintain purchase records.
- Accounts Receivable & Payable – Monitor outstanding customer and supplier balances.
- Bank Reconciliations – Post receipts and payments and reconcile bank accounts.
- Payroll – Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Management Accounts – Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- VAT Returns – Prepare VAT returns in compliance with current legislation.
- Limited Company Accounts – Assist with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, including working papers and supporting schedules.
- Accounting Software – Work with Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud-based accounting systems.
Requirements
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous bookkeeping experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience preparing limited company accounts would be beneficial.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a growing accountancy practice.
Working Hours
- Part-time: 8 hours per week (Monday and Thursday/Friday preferred).
- Flexible working arrangements available, subject to client deadlines.
- Occasional team catch-ups and meetings.
Salary & Benefits
- £21,157.50 – £25,350 FTE, depending on experience.
- 20 days' annual leave (pro rata) plus your birthday off.
