Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join the kitchen brigade at The Wood Norton, a prestigious four-star country house hotel. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will support the preparation and delivery of high-quality dishes across all dining areas, ensuring consistency, creativity, and excellence in every service.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes in accordance with the Head Chef’s standards
- Work across different kitchen sections as required (e.g., larder, pastry, hot section)
- Maintain high levels of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Follow recipes and instructions set by the Head Chef and Sous Chefs
- Ensure all food hygiene and health & safety regulations (including HACCP) are strictly adhered to
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and well-stocked at all times
- Support senior chefs during busy service periods
- Help with stock rotation, storage, and minimising food waste
- Learn and develop new skills under the guidance of senior kitchen staff
- Contribute ideas and enthusiasm to menu development where appropriate
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment (hotel or restaurant preferred)
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
- A genuine passion for food and hospitality
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs
- Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Knowledge of food hygiene standards (Level 1 or 2 Food Safety desirable)
