PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to plan, coordinate, and oversee the safe and efficient movement of goods across our cross-border logistics network. From overseas points of origin to ports, our customs warehouse, and final third-party distribution partners, you will ensure transport operations comply with international trade laws, UK customs specifications, and exceed our contractual obligations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the daily transport operations and freight forwarding routes from the UK warehouse to overseas markets.
- Schedule collections from UK ports and suppliers, and manage outbound customer deliveries nationwide.
- Negotiate and manage SLAs with global transport carriers, shipping lines, third-party hauliers, and domestic courier partners.
- Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, international trade laws, and company procedures prior to export and upon import.
- Supervise warehousing infrastructure, stock control systems, and dispatch schedules in tandem with the warehouse team to ensure high-efficiency order fulfilment for high-volume accounts.
- Review transport costs continuously to identify and implement operational efficiency improvements.
- Work closely with overseas suppliers to verify packaging, labelling, and shipping documentation, resolving any compliance checks or delays at the point of origin.
- Assist with robust contingency planning where supply chain delays occur, keeping all stakeholders informed.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven management experience in international logistics, transport operations, and supply chain strategy.
- Profound understanding of cross-border freight forwarding, including point-of-origin shipping operations.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is essential to effectively coordinate operational requirements and resolve supply chain issues with overseas stakeholders, manufacturers, and freight forwarders.
- Detailed understanding of Chinese business practices, commercial customs, and professional etiquette to build strong vendor relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on cost-reduction and process improvement.
Pay: £40,000.00-£450,000.00 per year
