We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented R&D Technical Associate to join our Research & Development team at our Head Office near Selby. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in a regulated industry who is looking to develop their technical and quality expertise within the medical device sector.
Your own car and full driving licence is required for this role as there is no public transport link to our site.
The Role
As an R&D Technical Associate, you will play a key role in supporting product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement activities. You will lead investigations into reported product issues, coordinate R&D actions arising from non-conformities, CAPAs and change controls, and ensure product specifications remain accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements and international standards.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners, you will help ensure our products continue to meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical investigations relating to product issues and customer complaints.
- Coordinate and support the timely completion of R&D actions arising from:
- Non-conformities (NCRs)
- Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs)
- Change Control Requests (CCRs)
- Collaborate with external manufacturing partners to complete investigation activities within agreed timelines.
- Ensure product specifications and technical documentation are maintained and updated.
- Support Quality Assurance activities, including root cause analysis, complaints investigations and non-conformance management.
- Escalate product quality or safety concerns to the appropriate management team.
- Coordinate and undertake testing of new and existing products, including protocol development, data analysis and report writing.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on relevant procedures and processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
About You
Essential
- Knowledge and experience of working within an ISO 13485 regulated environment.
- Previous experience within a technical, quality, medical device, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Degree in a science, engineering or medical-related discipline.
- Knowledge of:
- ISO 14971
- ISO 10993
- EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR)
- MDCG guidance documents
- UK and FDA regulatory requirements
- Understanding of standards and regulations relating to In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) products.
