Leicester City Women's Football Club is entering an exciting new chapter.
Competing in Women's Super League 2 (WSL2) for the 2026/27 season, the Club is focused on building a high-performance environment capable of supporting an immediate return to the Women's Super League. We are now seeking a passionate and ambitious First Team Sports Therapist to join our First Team medical department and play a key role in supporting player health, performance, and availability throughout the season.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated therapist looking to further develop their career within elite football while working alongside experienced medical and performance practitioners in a professional, player-centred environment.
About the Role
The First Team Sports Therapist is an integral part of Leicester City Women's first-team medical team, providing day-to-day therapy, rehabilitation, and pitchside medical support to players across training, matchdays, and recovery environments.
You will work closely with physiotherapists, medical staff, coaches, and performance practitioners to deliver outstanding care and support throughout the player journey, helping athletes maximise their availability and performance.
This role is ideally suited to a therapist who is already competent in, or actively developing, the clinical skills required within elite sport and who is eager to continue learning within a progressive and ambitious football club.
What You'll Be Doing
First Team Medical Support
- Deliver high-quality soft tissue therapy for first-team players across training, competition, and recovery.
- Provide pitchside immediate care and medical support during home and away fixtures.
- Support matchday preparation, medical setup, and related operational requirements.
- Assist in maintaining the highest standards of player welfare and medical provision.
Injury Assessment and Rehabilitation
- Assess and support the initial management of injuries, escalating appropriately to senior medical staff where required.
- Deliver, or work towards independently delivering, evidence-based rehabilitation programmes.
- Support players throughout their rehabilitation journey using criteria-based progression models.
- Contribute to return-to-training and return-to-performance processes.
Clinical Practice
- Apply a range of clinical skills including soft tissue therapy, taping, screening, rehabilitation, and dry needling where appropriately qualified.
- Assist with injury prevention programmes and monitoring strategies.
- Support ongoing player screening, physical preparation, and recovery initiatives.
- Maintain high levels of professional practice in line with industry standards and evidence-based approaches.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with the wider medical and performance team to optimise player care.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-performing working environment.
- Communicate effectively with players and colleagues to support informed decision-making and player outcomes.
- Maintain strong working relationships across all departments within the Club.
Clinical Administration
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical records using the Club's athlete management systems.
- Ensure documentation complies with professional standards, Club policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support audit, monitoring, and reporting processes where appropriate.
Supporting Female Athletes

- Adapt treatment approaches and communication styles to meet the needs of female athletes.
- Contribute to education around injury prevention, athlete health, wellbeing, and performance.

- Deliver all medical services with professionalism, sensitivity, and respect for personal boundaries and privacy.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy.
- Graduate Member of The Society of Sports Therapists (or eligible for membership), or equivalent recognised professional registration.
- Current Pitchside Immediate Care Qualification (FA ITMMiF Level 4 or equivalent).
Essential Experience
- A minimum of 12 months' experience working within an elite sporting environment, such as a professional sports club, national governing body, or elite academy programme.
- Experience providing pitchside care and soft tissue therapy in a sporting environment.
- Experience supporting injury management and rehabilitation processes.
Essential Skills
- Competent in, or actively working towards competency in:
- Soft tissue therapy
- Taping
- Dry needling
- Musculoskeletal screening
- Injury assessment
- Rehabilitation delivery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with players and colleagues.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- High levels of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
Desirable
- Qualifications in dry needling, advanced taping, or musculoskeletal screening.
- Previous experience within women's football or women's sport.
- Experience using athlete management systems and clinical documentation software.
- A strong interest in female athlete health and development.

Additional Information
- The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, matchdays, and travel as required.
