We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Server to lead our front-of-house team in delivering exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality and restaurant service and demonstrate excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the service team to ensure smooth and efficient operations during service hours
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, personalised service throughout their dining experience
- Take orders accurately, recommend menu items, and upsell where appropriate to enhance guest satisfaction and revenue
- Ensure food safety standards are maintained at all times, including proper handling and serving of food and beverages
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, supporting kitchen staff to meet service demands
- Manage reservations, organise table allocations, and oversee wait times to optimise guest flow
- Train new staff members on service procedures, standards, and safety protocols
- Handle guest enquiries or complaints professionally, aiming to resolve issues promptly and satisfactorily
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the service area in compliance with health regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in hospitality or restaurant environments, with a focus on serving roles
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and food handling procedures
- Experience in food preparation and basic culinary skills is advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills with effective time management abilities to handle busy service periods
- Exceptional guest service skills with a friendly, professional demeanour
- Ability to upsell menu items confidently to maximise sales opportunities
- Good understanding of basic maths for billing and transaction purposes
- Previous kitchen experience or culinary background is beneficial but not essential
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide team members effectively
