Assistant Buyer & Stock Controller
Location: Perth
Schedule: Monday–Friday : 8:30am – 5pm
About the Role: Are you obsessed with product, brilliant with numbers, and a total master of stock management? We are on the hunt for a driven Assistant Buyer & Stock Controller to join our fast-paced commercial team!
Reporting directly to the Lead Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in keeping our stock flowing seamlessly while driving commercial performance through smart buying and sharp negotiation.
Key Responsibilities: As our Assistant Buyer, you will act as the crucial bridge between our suppliers, warehouse, buying strategy and sales team. Working hand-in-hand with the Lead Buyer, you will ensure our ranges stay profitable and our stock levels remain spot-on.
- Stock & Account Management: Manage key supplier accounts, monitor inventory health, track stock turn, and actively prevent out-of-stock situations.
- Negotiation & Sourcing: Work closely with suppliers to negotiate optimum lead times, payment terms, and cost prices without compromising on quality.
- Price Management: Own pricing administration—track cost changes, analyse margins, and implement competitive pricing strategies to hit profit targets.
- Range & Strategy Support: Assist the Lead Buyer with range planning, analyse sell-through trends, and identify both top performers and slow movers.
- Supplier Relations: Build strong, long-term relationships with vendor accounts while holding them accountable for service delivery and pricing commitments.
About You
- The Negotiator: Confident picking up the phone, pushing back on price hikes, and driving a hard (but fair!) bargain.
- Data-Savvy: Fully comfortable working with spreadsheets, sales figures, and inventory metrics.
- Stock-Obsessed: Thorough understanding of order cycles, safety stock, and lead-time forecasting.
- Proactive & Organised: Thrives in a fast-moving environment and takes full ownership of daily workload and deadlines.
