Job Summary
Southend Victoria PCN are looking for an experienced GP Assistant to support the network in the delivery of services.
The role will include support and education.
A GP Assistant will support the GP(s) smooth running of clinics, by performing the more routine.
administration and some clinical tasks on behalf of the GP, freeing up their time to focus on patient care.
Must have previous experience working within a GP surgery and strong knowledge of System One
Responsibilities
You will act as a key liaison between the admin team, NHS services and patients to promote safe and efficient care:
- Process clinical documents and correspondence
- Issue prescriptions under clinical supervision
- Manage Anima digital tasks within agreed timescales
- Produce secretarial referrals
- Completing various aspects of administration to save the GP time.
- Clinical aspects where relevant and applicable (e.g. where the individual has a healthcare background)
- Ability to work flexibly across the 9 practices within our PCN
Communication
· Liaise and interact with multi-professional teams across organisational boundaries, including primary care, social services and secondary care providers according to patient needs and appropriate care pathways.
· Maintain communication with all healthcare professionals and outside agencies to ensure seamless, patient-centre service provision.
· Ensure effective communication so that the patient receives the appropriate level of care and wherever possible to avoid unnecessary hospital admission.
· Communicate effectively with other team members.
· Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising their needs for alternative methods of communication.
· Enthusiastic about health promotion and lifestyle changes.
Personal and people development
· Post holder must hold a GP Assistant Development qualification (training will be given).
· The effective use of training and development is fundamental in ensuring that all staff are
· equipped with the appropriate skills, knowledge, attitude and competences to perform their role.
· All staff will be required to partake and complete mandatory training as directed by the training
· coordinator, as well as participating in the practice training programme. Staff will also be
· permitted (subject to approval) to undertake external training courses which will enhance their
· knowledge and skills, progress their career and ultimately, enable them to improve processes and
· service delivery.
· Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for
· maintaining a record of own personal and /or professional development.
· Inform the lead GP of any concerns regarding GPA role and any professional development
needed.
