The Plough Inn is a beautifully restored boutique country inn in the heart of the Cotswolds. With a 65-cover restaurant, four boutique bedrooms and a passion for exceptional hospitality, our ambition is simple: to become one of the area's most loved dining destinations.
We're looking for an experienced, passionate and commercially minded Head Chef to lead our kitchen and play a key role in shaping the future of The Plough Inn.
This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who wants the freedom to run their own kitchen, build and inspire a talented team, and create outstanding seasonal British dishes using the very best local produce.
The Role
As Head Chef, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring every dish leaving the pass reflects the high standards we want The Plough Inn to become known for.
You will:
- Lead, inspire and develop your own kitchen team.
- Create and evolve seasonal British menus showcasing the very best local produce.
- Deliver consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and service.
- Monitor GP, labour costs, KPIs and stock to ensure an efficient and profitable kitchen.
- Minimise food waste while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Build strong relationships with local farmers and suppliers.
- Manage ordering, stock control and kitchen budgets.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, HACCP and hygiene regulations.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
- Maintain a calm, organised and positive kitchen environment during busy service.
About You
You'll be an experienced Head Chef or an ambitious Sous Chef ready to take the next step, with:
- Proven experience leading a busy fresh-food kitchen.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- A genuine passion for modern seasonal British cuisine.
- A solid commercial understanding of GP, food costs, labour, stock control and kitchen performance.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- High standards, a positive attitude and a hands-on approach.
- The ability to motivate, develop and inspire those around you.
