Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Chef/Cook to join our vibrant culinary team at the Arthur Findlay College. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering high-quality meals and an excellent dining experience for our students. You will be responsible for maintaining consistently high standards of food preparation, presentation, quality, cleanliness and hygiene, while ensuring that all food is prepared safely and in accordance with relevant food safety regulations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to upholding the high standards, values and welcoming atmosphere of Arthur Findlay College.
Duties:
- Assist the Head Chef in preparing and presenting meals to a high standard.
- Ensuring efficient teamwork.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and portion control.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and storage areas.
- Support menu planning and development.
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a dining or hospitality setting
- Experience working in a busy kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety protocols and sanitation standards
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team effectively while maintaining high-quality service standards
- Familiarity with dining operations, including serving procedures and customer interaction skills
- Passion for culinary arts with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement

Experience:
- Previous experience as a Chef or in a similar role is essential.*
- Recognised catering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 1/2 in Professional Cookery) is desirable.*
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
Hours of work:
Rota basis to cover 5 out of 7 days
40 hours p/w
Pay: £15.04 per hour
