Apprentice Chef - The Oak at Curthwaite - Job Overview
The Oak at Curthwaite is looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to begin their career in hospitality and join our friendly kitchen team.
This paid apprenticeship offers the opportunity to learn practical cooking skills, food preparation and professional kitchen techniques while working alongside experienced chefs. You will receive guidance and support as you build your confidence, contribute to service and develop the foundations for a rewarding culinary career.
Previous kitchen experience is not essential. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a genuine interest in food and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping and measuring.
- Help prepare and present dishes according to recipes and the standards of The Oak.
- Learn a range of cooking methods and kitchen techniques under the guidance of our chefs.
- Prepare ingredients and kitchen sections ahead of each service.
- Follow instructions from the Head Chef and other senior members of the kitchen team.
- Keep workstations, equipment and storage areas clean, tidy and organised.
- Follow all food hygiene, allergen, health-and-safety and safe food-handling procedures.
- Assist with deliveries, stock rotation and restocking kitchen supplies.
- Notify senior team members when ingredients or supplies are running low.
- Support the wider kitchen team during busy services.
- Complete the training and coursework required as part of the apprenticeship programme.
