Newcode Partnership Ltd is a leading provider of industrial coding, marking and labelling solutions. We supply, install and maintain equipment used by manufacturers to print dates, batch codes, barcodes and traceability information directly onto products and packaging.
We work with customers across the food, beverage, manufacturing and packaging industries. Our product range includes industrial inkjet printers, print-and-apply labelling systems, vision inspection equipment and associated production-line technology.
We are now looking for a customer-focused Field Service Technician to join our growing engineering team.
The role
The role will primarily involve servicing, installing and repairing industrial inkjet printers at customers’ manufacturing sites.
You will travel from home to customer locations, diagnose equipment faults, carry out repairs and planned maintenance, and ensure that customers receive a professional and reliable service.
You will receive comprehensive training on our inkjet printing equipment. As your knowledge develops, you will also be trained to work on additional products, including print-and-apply labelling systems.
Key responsibilities
- Installing and commissioning industrial inkjet printers
- Attending equipment breakdowns and diagnosing technical faults
- Repairing and servicing printers to a high standard
- Completing planned preventative maintenance
- Providing customers with basic equipment operation and maintenance training
- Keeping customers informed throughout each service visit
- Managing the spare parts, tools and equipment carried in the company vehicle
- Completing accurate service reports and documentation
- Working closely with Newcode’s technical support and customer service teams
- Maintaining excellent customer relationships and representing Newcode professionally
- Participating in the weekend on-call rota
Travel and working arrangements
This is a field-based position, so regular travel is an important part of the role.
- Most customer visits will be within approximately three hours of your home
- Travel time is paid door-to-door
- On average, the role requires one to two overnight stays per week
- Overnight accommodation and agreed expenses are paid by the company
- Paid overtime is available and will sometimes be required
- The expected total annual earnings, including overtime, are approximately £45,000 OTE
- Weekend on-call duties are normally one weekend every five to six weeks
- A company car is provided
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who understands the realities of working in a field-service position, including travelling regularly, responding to breakdowns and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous field-service, maintenance or technical-support experience
- Experience working with industrial equipment, printers, production machinery or electrical and mechanical systems
- Good electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional when responding to urgent breakdowns
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently while remaining part of a wider service team
- A willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
- A full UK driving licence
Previous experience with industrial inkjet printers or print-and-apply systems would be beneficial, but it is not essential because full product training will be provided.
