Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriter to join our dynamic team. Duties
- Evaluate insurance applications by analysing relevant financial, personal, and business information
- Assess risk factors associated with potential clients and determine appropriate policy terms and conditions
- Review and interpret underwriting guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders to gather additional information or clarify application details
- Prepare detailed reports summarising risk assessments and underwriting decisions
- Maintain accurate records of all underwriting activities within the organisation’s systems
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and changes in legislation that may impact underwriting practices
- Assist in the development of new underwriting policies or procedures to improve efficiency and risk management
Qualifications
- Proven experience in underwriting or a related role within the insurance sector is preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data accurately
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and external partners
- Familiarity with underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in insurance underwriting
- A qualification such as the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification or equivalent is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a team environment

Pay: From £33,000.00 per year
