We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Warehouse Manager to take full ownership of our Birmingham warehouse operation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at an important stage in the development of our UK distribution operation. We are looking for someone who can lead from the front, build a strong and accountable warehouse team and identify opportunities to improve the way the warehouse operates.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the day-to-day warehouse operation, stock accuracy and control, team performance, operational processes, health & safety and continuous improvement.
This role would suit an experienced Warehouse Manager who enjoys being visible on the warehouse floor, understands the detail of a busy distribution operation and is equally comfortable managing people, analysing performance and implementing change.
Culture and Environment
The Birmingham warehouse is a key part of our UK distribution network and works closely with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics and Finance.
You will work closely with the wider management team and will be expected to take ownership of warehouse performance while contributing ideas and recommendations to improve the wider operation.
We want someone who will challenge inefficient ways of working, introduce structure where needed, and create an environment where the warehouse team understands what is expected of them and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service.
The Person
We are looking for a confident and approachable manager with a strong, established leadership style.
You will be a hands-on leader who is comfortable being present on the warehouse floor and supporting the team when required, while still maintaining clear management responsibility and accountability.
You will need strong communication and organisational skills, good attention to detail and the confidence to make decisions and address performance issues when necessary.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who can look at an existing operation, identify where improvements can be made and then take ownership of implementing those improvements.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience managing a warehouse or distribution operation.
- Proven experience managing and motivating a warehouse team.
- Strong understanding of stock control and inventory management.
- Experience improving warehouse processes and operational performance.
- Strong organisational and workload-planning skills.
- Ability to manage competing operational priorities in a busy environment.
- Confident dealing with performance management, absence and day-to-day people issues.
- Good understanding of workplace Health & Safety requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working with warehouse systems and operational data.
- Competent using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working within a high-volume distribution environment.
- SAP or similar ERP/WMS experience.
- Forklift Truck licence or previous FLT experience.
- Experience introducing and managing warehouse KPIs.
- Experience with cycle counting and stock accuracy programmes.
- Experience improving warehouse layouts, storage capacity or warehouse processes.
- Experience managing inbound container deliveries.
- Experience working with pallet networks, parcel carriers and third-party logistics providers.
- Experience supporting a warehouse through significant operational change.

Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
