We're now looking for a proactive and hands-on Senior Technician to support the day-to-day operation of our customer project environments.
The Opportunity
This is a varied and highly visible role where you'll take operational responsibility for three customer project areas, ensuring activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with customer expectations.
Working closely with Programme Managers, Project Managers and customers, you'll be the go-to person for operational coordination, problem solving and maintaining smooth project delivery. No two days are the same, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing

Overseeing the daily operation of multiple customer project areas

Acting as the main operational contact for project teams and customer representatives

Supporting planning activities to ensure resources, tooling and equipment are available when needed

Promoting a strong health, safety and compliance culture

Monitoring operational performance and escalating risks or issues where required

Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the work areas

Maintaining high standards of organisation and housekeeping using 5S principles

Learning and operating equipment and machinery where required to support project delivery

Collaborating with engineers, technicians and project teams to achieve successful outcomes

Essential

Understanding of manufacturing processes and operations

Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment

Hands-on experience working with machinery, equipment or technical processes

Good problem-solving skills and the confidence to escalate issues when needed

Basic Microsoft Office skills

Experience in manufacturing disciplines such as fabrication, CNC machining, assembly, metrology, metallurgy or laser processing

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) was established in 2010 as an independent Research & Technology Organisation (RTO) with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry – often referred to as ‘the valley of death’.
It represents one of the largest public sector investments in UK manufacturing and, after four years of planning and a 16 month build, the facility opened at Ansty Park in Coventry at the end of 2011.
In December 2011, there were 16 industrial members, 44 staff and just a few key pieces of equipment in the ‘workshop’.
Over the following seven years the MTC’s rapid growth has seen the expansion of our campus with the construction of three more facilities, including the opening of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre and the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing.
Our role has also increased to cover not only R&D but also Training, Advanced Manufacturing Management and Factory Design.
We now have over 700 talented employees working with us.
During this time we have helped hundreds of companies across a range of industries and over 100 of them have become members of the MTC.
