Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of food safety standards. This role involves overseeing daily kitchen operations, managing staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes that meet our restaurant’s standards. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, ensuring smooth daily operations
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to uphold quality standards and consistency
- Manage food production processes to optimise efficiency and minimise waste
- Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, considering customer preferences and seasonal ingredients
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control to ensure availability of ingredients at all times
- Train staff on food safety practices, proper cooking techniques, and customer service standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Handle customer feedback professionally to resolve any issues promptly
- Maintain a positive working environment that promotes teamwork, motivation, and professional growth
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment
- Extensive food production knowledge coupled with culinary expertise across various cuisines
- Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff effectively
- Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation standards
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, including inventory management and cost control
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
- Previous experience working in hospitality or restaurant settings is highly desirable
- Leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high-quality output
- Effective communication skills for liaising with team members and management
