Company Overview – Project & Engineering Manager
Our client is an established and rapidly growing electronic security specialist, delivering high-end integrated security solutions across prestigious residential, commercial and specialist environments.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Project & Engineering Manager to lead the successful delivery of multiple security installation projects from technical handover through to commissioning and final client handover.
This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong engineering background who can confidently lead installation teams, maintain exceptional quality standards and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Projects typically include integrated CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarm, Intercom and often working alongside architects, M&E contractors, AV specialists and other trades.
Project & Engineering Manager Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering delivery of multiple electronic security installation projects from handover through to completion.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and technical support to engineering teams.
- Ensure engineers fully understand project specifications, drawings and installation requirements before work begins.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor installation quality, workmanship and compliance with project specifications.
- Identify and resolve technical installation issues, ensuring projects remain on programme.
- Manage project programmes, procurement schedules, budgets, progress reports and risk registers.
- Coordinate engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Monitor project progress and proactively manage programme, resource and procurement risks.
- Produce and manage snagging lists, ensuring defects are resolved promptly before commissioning.
- Coordinate commissioning activities, integration testing and final system handovers.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, variations, meeting minutes and progress reports.
- Attend client and contractor meetings, providing professional project updates and technical guidance.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, professionally and in accordance with current Health & Safety legislation.
- Identify project variations and additional works whilst protecting project profitability.
- Support the transition of completed systems into ongoing maintenance and support contracts.
Project & Engineering Manager Skills and Experience:
- Previous hands-on experience as an Electronic Security Engineer, Senior Engineer, Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
- Proven experience managing electronic security installation projects from inception through to completion.
- Strong technical knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarm and Intercom systems.
- Experience inspecting installation quality, identifying technical issues and maintaining high engineering standards.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate and develop engineering teams.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and multiple project stakeholders.
- Excellent project planning, programme management and organisational skills.
- Commercial awareness, including procurement, budgets, project variations and margin protection.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst working to tight deadlines.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience working within high-end residential, luxury hospitality or specialist construction environments.
- Knowledge of integrated building technologies, Home Automation or Building Management Systems.
- Awareness of SSAIB standards and relevant British Standards.
- PRINCE2, APM PMQ, PMP or equivalent Project Management qualification.
- Manufacturer certifications across leading electronic security platforms.
- Experience using project planning and document management software.
