Spyder Performance is an established specialist supplier of Porsche parts to retail and trade customers throughout the UK and internationally.
We're looking for a capable, commercially minded person to take responsibility for the day-to-day customer and sales side of the business.
This is a varied role combining customer service, parts sales, trade development, supplier ordering, website/product management and marketing. You'll deal directly with customers by phone, email, WhatsApp and social media, help develop new and existing trade accounts, maintain our online product catalogue and assist with email and social media marketing.
Automotive or parts experience would be useful, and Porsche knowledge is a definite advantage, but neither is essential. We're more interested in finding someone bright, organised, commercially aware and good with customers who can learn our products and take ownership of the role.
Hours: 07:30–17:30 Monday–Thursday and 07:30–14:45 Friday.
No evenings or weekends. No home or hybrid working.
More about the role
This is not simply a customer service job and it's not a high-pressure telesales position.
We're looking for someone who can become the day-to-day commercial point of contact for Spyder Performance, taking ownership of customer enquiries and parts sales while also helping us develop our trade business, maintain our online product catalogue and communicate effectively with our customers.
It's a broad role, so we're looking for an all-rounder who enjoys having responsibility and variety in their working day.
Customer service & sales
You'll be the main point of contact for customers, dealing with enquiries received by:
- Telephone
- Email
- WhatsApp
- Facebook and social media
You'll deal with product enquiries, availability, pricing, orders and technical or fitment questions, with support available for more complex technical enquiries.
You'll also prepare quotations, follow up enquiries, advise customers on suitable products and identify additional sales opportunities where appropriate.
Our objective isn't simply to maximise turnover. We want to develop profitable, sustainable sales while providing genuinely good customer service.
Developing retail & trade sales
A significant part of the role will be proactively developing our customer base rather than simply responding to incoming enquiries.
This will include:
- Contacting existing customers
- Identifying and approaching potential new customers
- Developing new trade accounts
- Maintaining relationships with existing trade customers
- Promoting relevant products and ranges
- Keeping trade price lists accurate and up to date
- Helping develop opportunities in both the UK and overseas
Supplier ordering
You'll manage supplier orders associated with customer sales, including drop-ship orders and orders from UK and overseas suppliers.
You'll monitor outstanding orders and make sure customers are kept properly informed about availability and delivery.
Website, eBay & product listings
Our website is our primary sales platform and maintaining the quality of the product catalogue is an important part of the job.
You'll be responsible for work including:
- Adding new products
- Updating existing listings
- Improving product descriptions
- Adding specifications and fitment information
- Updating pricing
- Maintaining product images and information
- Correcting outdated or poor-quality listings
- General website catalogue housekeeping
- Maintaining and improving eBay listings
You don't need to be a web developer. You do need to be comfortable with computers, online systems and learning how our platforms work.
Marketing
You'll help us communicate regularly with retail and trade customers through:
- Facebook
- Mailchimp email campaigns
- YouTube
- Product announcements
- Promotions
- Technical and product-related content
- Trade communications
We're not looking for a dedicated graphic designer or marketing specialist. We're looking for someone who can understand the products we're selling, recognise what will interest our customers and turn that into useful, straightforward content.
Who we're looking for
The right person will be:
- Confident and personable when dealing with customers
- Commercially aware
- Well organised
- Comfortable managing several different priorities
- A good written and verbal communicator
- Confident using computers and online systems
- Able to work independently
- Proactive and willing to take ownership
- Interested in cars and keen to develop detailed product knowledge
Experience in automotive parts, a motor factor, aftermarket parts, specialist garage, dealership or a similar environment would be particularly useful.
Knowledge of Porsche models and parts would be a significant advantage, but we'd rather recruit the right person and teach them the products than restrict ourselves to existing Porsche specialists.
Hours & working arrangements
This is a permanent, full-time, office-based role.
Monday–Thursday: 07:30–17:30
Friday: 07:30–14:45
There is no evening or weekend working, and the longer Monday–Thursday working day means an early finish every Friday.
This role is not available on a home-working or hybrid basis.
Package
£30,000–£32,000 basic salary, depending on experience, plus a performance-related bonus.
You'll receive training in our products and systems and considerable scope to make the role your own as your knowledge and experience develop.
For someone who is good with customers, commercially minded, interested in cars and enjoys having ownership rather than performing one narrow function all day, this should be an interesting and rewarding role.
Pay: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Company pension
- Employee discount
- Employee mentoring programme
- Free parking
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
