Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled SolidWorks Design & Manufacturing Detailer to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings for manufacturing processes, ensuring precision and adherence to project specifications. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise advanced CAD software skills within a collaborative environment, contributing to innovative design solutions across various projects.
Duties
- Develop detailed 3D models and technical schematics using SolidWorks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings and assembly instructions to facilitate efficient production workflows.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret design concepts and translate them into detailed CAD models.
- Utilise supplementary software such as SketchUp, NavisWorks, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, and Schematics as needed for integrated project development.
- Review and revise designs based on feedback, ensuring all specifications are met before final approval.
- Maintain organised CAD files and documentation for easy retrieval and version control.
- Assist in resolving design issues during the manufacturing process by providing technical support and modifications.
Skills & Experience
- Strong SolidWorks modelling experience; sheet-metal and assembly modelling experience is preferred.
- Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings and fabrication information.
- Good understanding of drawing interpretation, sketches and technical information.
- Understanding of sheet-material flat development, folding, fabrication, assembly processes, materials and finishes.
- Ability to visualise and resolve problems within a design environment before manufacture.
- Experience using 2D drafting packages such as DraftSight, AutoCAD or similar.
- Ability to manage more than one live project while maintaining accuracy and standards.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the Engagement, Design and Operations teams.
- Self-driven, organised and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Basic working knowledge of Word, Excel and related software.
Desirable
- Experience in architectural metalwork, façades, cladding, bespoke aluminium or steelwork.
- Degree-level background in product design, engineering or a related discipline.
- SolidWorks certification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Understanding of plant, hardware and equipment used within fabrication and manufacturing.

Pay: £24,420.00-£49,386.59 per year
