We have excellent opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated Maths and/or English Teachers to join the Adult Learning and Skills Service (ALSS) and support learners across the Selby and Scarborough areas.
About Adult Learning and Skills Service
ALSS supports adults across North Yorkshire to build confidence, develop essential skills and progress into further learning, employment, or fuller participation in their communities. Our learners come from a wide range of backgrounds and include adults returning to learning, those seeking to improve their employability, and individuals who may be furthest from current skills opportunities.
You'll be part of a supportive and ambitious team dedicated to transforming lives through learning, having the opportunity to make a real difference to adults across the Selby and Scarborough communities while developing your own professional career.

The Role
You will:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging Maths and/or English learning sessions that meet identified learner needs and abilities.
- Deliver inclusive teaching that supports learner achievement, confidence and progression.
- Create positive and supportive learning environments that encourage participation and success.
- Carry out initial assessments and monitor learner progress throughout programmes.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support achievement and progression.
- Support learners to achieve recognised Functional Skills qualifications where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and learner records in line with funding and service requirements.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion within all learning activities.
What We're Looking For
Are you:
- Passionate about helping adults achieve their goals through education.
- Experienced in delivering Maths and/or English teaching to adults or post-19 learners.
- Skilled in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive learning sessions.
- Able to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues.
- Organised and able to manage workload effectively whilst meeting deadlines.
- Competent in the use of digital learning technologies and office-based applications.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting learner wellbeing.

Note – You must have the ability to travel effectively across a rural county, deliver evening and blended learning sessions where required and a willingness to support learner recruitment activities and open events.
