We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Builder to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of practical skills across various trades, including carpentry, roofing, masonry, plumbing, and electrical work. This role involves working on diverse building projects, ensuring high standards of quality and safety. The successful applicant will be an organised professional capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently whilst adhering to project specifications and deadlines. All roles are paid positions, including internships, offering valuable experience within the construction industry.
Duties
- Constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures using a variety of materials and techniques.
- Undertaking carpentry tasks such as framing, fitting doors and windows, and installing fixtures.
- Performing roofing work including repairs, replacements, and waterproofing measures.
- Applying construction paint to surfaces as required for finishing or protective purposes.
- Installing or repairing plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
- Laying bricks, blocks, or stones for walls and other masonry features.
- Welding metal components to specifications using appropriate welding techniques.
- Conducting electrical installations or repairs in compliance with safety standards.
- Operating hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently across different tasks.
- Fabricating custom components or structures as needed for specific projects.
- Ensuring all work sites are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction trades such as carpentry, roofing, masonry, plumbing or electrical work is highly desirable.
- Competence in the use of hand tools and power tools essential for various building tasks.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications accurately.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Physical fitness to perform demanding manual labour including lifting heavy materials and working at heights when necessary.
- A valid relevant qualification or certification in construction-related trades is advantageous but not mandatory if extensive practical experience is demonstrated.
- Commitment to maintaining high safety standards on site at all times.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different project requirements.
