Camino Healthcare provides innovative mental healthcare for adults across West Midlands. We offer 24-hour care for men and women with severe and enduring mental illness, mild learning disabilities, and patients with forensic histories. We operate three care homes: Cedar Lodge in Nuneaton, Cromwell House in West Bromwich and our brand new home Kilsby House in Rugby.
Role Overview:
The Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting high-quality meals tailored to meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents, staff, and volunteers. This role involves creating varied and nutritious menus that align with individual requirements, including any medical, cultural, or personal dietary considerations. The Chef ensures that all food is prepared to a high standard of quality, taste, and presentation. In addition, the Chef must comply with all relevant health, safety, and hygiene regulations to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- To plan meals and menus ensuring residents’ needs are considered including, for example, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free, cultural needs.
- To prepare and cook dishes to a planned menu using standardised recipes and at prescribed times.
- The preparation of all meals and making sure as little as possible is wasted.
- Adherence to standard recipes and methods.
- To exercise correct portion control.
- To assist in the serving of meals to residents and staff.
- To ensure that kitchen and catering equipment is kept clean and tidy in accordance with organisational standards.
- Fulfil the obligations of the Health and Safety at Work Act Riddor and COSHH Regulations.
- Maintain good relationships with residents and staff, staff, public and volunteers on site.
- Safe operation of equipment such as mixers, oven etc. and in accordance with departmental procedure following training.
- To ensure the food is stored correctly and at the right temperatures.
- To show flexibility and accountability when taking delivery of food and drinks and signing off the order once confirmed all the order is correct.
- The use of cleaning materials as appropriate and the wearing of designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times and maintaining a clean and tidy appearance.
- To undertake all appropriate statutory and mandatory training.
- To report any mechanical defects and the need for repairs, to ensure equipment is always maintained.
- Any other duties as instructed by Line Manger, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager or Director

Qualifications/Experience
- Degree or HND in Hospitality Management/Catering Management (desirable)
- GCSEs (grade A-C) including English and Maths
- Health and safety training
- Experience of working within a catering environment.
- Good Knowledge of food preparation
- Experience of following Health and safety regulations
