Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Welfare Officer to join our small team. The successful candidate will work closely with schools, families, and external agencies to improve pupil attendance, wellbeing and engagement in education
Responsibilities
- Work closely with schools to monitor student attendance records and identify patterns of concern
- Engage with students, parents, and guardians to promote regular school attendance
- Provide advice and support to schools, and families facing challenges affecting their child's education
- Collaborate with school staff, social services, and external agencies to develop tailored intervention plans
- Organise and chair meetings aimed at improving attendance and engagement
- Maintain accurate records of interventions, contacts, and outcomes in line with organisational policies
- Support schools in implementing policies that encourage positive attendance
Requirements
- Proven experience or background in teaching, educational support or attendance roles is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised with excellent record-keeping abilities
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable students
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Knowledge of the local area is advantageous
- Knowledge of safeguarding is essential.
- Knowledge of attendance procedures is desirable, training can be provided
- Must have access to a car and be able to drive locally

The role requires the person to be able to visit schools, and families in their own home, there is also an office to work from.
Pay: £20.00 per hour
