Traffic Management Operative
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Various sites across Scotland
Shifts: Monday to Friday 7 am to 5pm, on-call and weekend work required as per rota
Salary: £130 to £150 per shift, depending on experience
The Role
We are looking for reliable Traffic Management Operatives to join our established team, working across live roads and worksites throughout Scotland.
You will be responsible for the delivery, installation, maintenance and removal of traffic management arrangements, ensuring work is completed safely, correctly and in line with approved layouts, site requirements, legislation and company procedures.
The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and may include evenings, nights, weekends and overtime.
You will also use an iPad and Depotnet App to complete job records, documentation and photographic evidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver, load, unload and transport traffic management equipment.
- Install, maintain and remove traffic and pedestrian management arrangements.
- Work to approved layouts, Chapter 8, NRSWA requirements and company procedures.
- Check sites regularly and respond to changing traffic, pedestrian and site conditions.
- Report hazards, defects, damage and incidents promptly.
- Complete site clearances and final sweeps following removal.
- Inspect returned equipment and report damaged, missing or unsuitable items.
- Complete accurate electronic records and photographic evidence using Depotnet.
- Follow risk assessments, method statements, site instructions and PPE requirements.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, customers, contractors, road users and the public.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Attend training and maintain required competencies.
- Work flexible and reasonable unsocial hours when operationally required.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Relevant traffic management experience or transferable highways/roadworks experience.
- Understanding of traffic and pedestrian management.
- Knowledge of Chapter 8 and relevant NRSWA requirements.
- Ability to follow traffic management plans, risk assessments and site instructions.
- Strong approach to health and safety.
- Good communication and attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
- Comfortable using a smartphone, tablet or iPad for electronic records.
- Able to work outdoors and undertake the physical requirements of the role.
- Flexibility to travel to different sites and work varying shifts.
Qualifications / Competencies:
Candidates should hold the relevant qualifications for the duties undertaken, which may include:
- Lantra traffic management accreditation.
- NRSWA Unit 2 or relevant current qualification/competency.
- CSCS, ECS/EURS or other appropriate industry card where required.
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential (manual transmission). Candidates with up to 3 points may be considered, subject to fleet insurance approval
Safety & Compliance
Safety is a key part of the role. You will be expected to follow company and site procedures, use PPE correctly, report hazards and incidents, and maintain traffic management arrangements to the required standard.
