Bluestones Medical is recruiting experienced Scrub Practitioners to support Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) across hospital and theatre settings throughout South East Wales.

As a Scrub Practitioner, you will play a key role within the multidisciplinary theatre team, providing safe and effective support throughout surgical procedures. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and other theatre professionals to ensure high standards of patient care and safety are maintained.
- Provide safe, effective and compassionate care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Work as part of the sterile surgical team during theatre procedures.

Prepare and maintain the sterile field before and throughout surgery.

Prepare surgical instruments, equipment and consumables required for procedures.

Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating their requirements and providing appropriate instruments and equipment.

Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection prevention standards.

Carry out surgical instrument, swab and needle counts in accordance with hospital policies.

Ensure all surgical equipment is available, safe and functioning correctly.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Promote patient safety, dignity and comfort throughout the perioperative journey.

Communicate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, ODPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Assist with the safe transfer and positioning of patients.

Follow safeguarding, infection prevention, health and safety and clinical governance procedures.

Respond appropriately to emergencies and unexpected changes during surgical procedures.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with valid NMC or HCPC registration, as applicable.

Recent UK experience working as a Scrub Practitioner within an operating theatre environment.

Minimum of 6 months' recent relevant UK experience.

Good knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment and sterile procedures.

Strong understanding of infection prevention and aseptic techniques.

Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.

Strong clinical assessment, organisation and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced theatre environment.
