Overview
We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our team, to be based at our site in Rickinghall.
Key Outcomes and Responsibilities
- Predominantly workshop-based role focused on the MIG welding and fabrication of mild steel structures, frames, platforms, pipework supports, and bespoke fabrications to a high standard.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings to accurately fabricate and assemble components, ensuring all specifications and tolerances are met.
- Carry out high-quality MIG welding on mild steel, producing strong, neat welds suitable for structural and general engineering applications.
- Fabricate, tack, assemble, and finish weld a wide variety of bespoke fabrications, including structural steelwork, brackets, frames, machinery components, and general fabrication projects.
- Safely operate workshop machinery including bandsaws, guillotines, drills, presses, grinders, and other fabrication equipment, ensuring correct usage and maintaining a clean, organised work area.
- Measure, mark out, cut, drill, and prepare materials ready for fabrication.
- Inspect your own work to ensure high standards of workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with company and customer specifications.
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules and project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, with particular attention to welding safety, manual handling, lifting operations, and safe use of workshop equipment.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and colleagues to resolve fabrication challenges and continuously improve productivity and quality.
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment, reporting any defects and ensuring equipment is kept in good working order.
Requirements – Essential
- Proven experience in MIG welding and fabrication (minimum 3-5 years) within a fabrication or engineering workshop.
- Experience fabricating structural steelwork, bespoke fabrications, or general engineering components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Competent in measuring, marking out, and assembling fabricated components.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Good understanding of fabrication processes and safe operation of workshop machinery.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Located within a commutable distance of IP22 1LP.
Desirable
- Experience working to BS EN 1090 or similar structural steel standards.
- Experience with overhead cranes, lifting equipment, or heavy fabrication.
- Ability to carry out basic fitting and mechanical assembly.
- Forklift Licence.
- CSCS Card.
- Welding qualifications or coding (advantageous but not essential).
